Today is Daffodil day so we all come to school wearing either green, yellow or orange and bought a gold coin to go to the cancer society. We had lots of fun at the parade and the Jump Jam afterwards. Here a few pictures of us putting our coins on the daffodil.

Science Week

This week we have started a series of science lessons. We started in our own classes and next week will go to another class to learn something else about science.

We wanted to know what would happen if we put flowers in coloured water. They started out like this:

When we got to school this morning look at what had happened!!!

We also looked at what would happen if we put raisins in fizzy water.

They started dancing as the bubble attached to them and then when they got to the top the bubbles popped and they fell down.

Our Big Punga Walk

Today we went for a big walk around the Wither Hills. We had to walk through a deep dark forest up hills and around on a stony path. We also had to dodge lots of poo! We had so much fun looking at how winter is changing to spring.

Paper Mache

We have been really busy paper maching all the parts of our bee. We did a bit of an organise this morning and found due to some balloons going down we were missing a few parts. So we asked some of our awesome big buddies to come up and help get them finished so that we can paint them in the next couple of weeks.

Very busy children

Everyone working together

Our big buddies are such fantastic helpers

Blogger of the week- week 4

Aloha Family and friends!

Last friday we went to the Honey Company. We got to taste the delicious honey and we saw the Queen Bee laying eggs. When we got back to school we enjoyed honey on toast!

We are really enjoying learning about bees. Did you know that bee keepers use smoke to calm bees. They have 3 eyes on the top of their heads to tell them if its day or night.

We are also making our own bees out of paper mache! It is lots and lots of hard work. We are looking forward to painting them once we have put the white paper on and stuck the body parts together.

We are getting ready for the dance festival! We are very very excited! We are going to be doing a bee rap called "Do the Honey Bee". Some of us will be bees, flowers and bee keepers. We are now busy practising our dance moves.

The roof is now on the new classroom next to us. The builders haven't been too noisy.

Next week is a busy week with Harold turning up to school! We are looking forward to learning about our bodies.

We will keep you posted on all the exciting things we are learning all the time!!!

Play Day!

Wow! We were so lucky today to get to watch the plays the children from room 4 have been working on. The knew how to talk loudly to the audience and remembered their lines. A big thank you to Mrs Clark for teaching them to be such great actors.

SPCA P.J. Day

Today we dressed in our P.J.s and brought to school a gold coin to help support the SPCA. We had lots of fun with a parade and Jump Jam.

We also thought since we were already in our P.J.s it would be a good day to watch the Bee Movie. So we invited the other classes in our syndicate and got together all of our pillows and bean bags, Miss Green and Mrs Robertson made some popcorn and Tyson's mum brought in some Freddo frogs and we all sat back and relaxed and learnt a bit about how hives work!

The beginning of our bees...

We have been learning about all of the parts of the honey bee. We have decided to make paper mache bees. Here are the beginning stages of our bees.

The first layer of the head of our bees done. We still have a long way to go!
