Doubles Rap

We are learning our doubles to 20. This is the doubles rap to help us learn. We have also made our own ipods to help us.

Assembly

This week we are sharing at Assembly. We have a great song we have been practising and some really neat portraits of the teachers in our school to share. It would be great to see you there.

Wow! We won!!!!!

On Friday at assembly it was announced that we had donated the most prizes for the gala! We have won a pizza lunch. A great big thank you to everyone who helped us achieve this! Harris was also super lucky because his key was drawn out for the second chance draw, he won an ipod.

Swing ball

Today we got two new swing ball sets to help with our hand eye co-ordination, they are lots of fun!

Blogger of the week- Week 8

Talofa Family and Friends!

This week we have been very busy trying to finish our self portraits. We are almost done with these some come and check them out, we are pretty awesome artists.

We all had an awesome time at the gala, so we thought we would make up our own gala. We have come up with some very exciting things to have there:
Izzy said that if you won the swimming race you would get your own pool! 
Ashya had any colour candy floss you wanted at hers!
Dyuti said that if you find heaps of milk lids you will win a pet!
At Olivers gala you can get boosted out of a cannon!
You can win a dinosaur at Harris's gala.
We let our imaginations run wild with ideas and came up with some fantastic writing!

Next week we have an exciting week jam packed with learning! It's Tysons birthday on Monday and on Friday we are sharing our teacher portraits and our song with the school assembly, we look forward to seeing you there!

Witherlea School Gala 2014

Wow what an awesome gala we had yesterday! We all won prizes and ate yummy food! Sophie danced on the stage and some of us tried our keys in the lock but didn't win. But we have a chance to win the ipod touch in the second chance draw at assembly this week. A big thank you to all the parents who helped out on the day and donated so much. Hopefully we find out soon if we have won the class with the most donations, we will keep you posted!

Blog of the week-WEEK 7

Welcome family and friends to our blogger of the week.

We are all really super excited because there is only 2 more sleeps till the gala!!! We have worked hard getting raffle money, prizes and baking cakes. Now we are looking forward to playing the games and having fun on Sunday. We hope to see you there!

Yesterday we had the playhouse theatre come to school to perform Rapunzel. This is what we thought about it:

This week we had Kapahaka with Mr Holmes and the Punga syndicate. We sang some colour and number songs and played a game with numbers.

We are now off to get on with finishing our teacher portraits, come back and have a look at them when they are done.

Gala Donations

Wow! Tyson's mum turned up with boxes of stuff for the gala! Surely we will win with all of this! Thank you :)

Painting Portraits with Mrs Z

Today we have started painting out self portraits with Mrs Zydenbos. We have to do each part and then wait for it to dry. Come in and see out creations when we are finished.

Blogger of the week. Week 6

Talofa family and friends!

Only 9 more sleeps until the Witherlea Gala! We are all so very excited. Today we brought in chocolate and we had to try very hard not to eat it all!

When we got to school this morning we found all these fences up...

So we have decided to come up with some ideas of what we could put in there. Some of these include: A Water park, a bear, a toy store, a tiger, a lion, a zoo, or a playground. What do you think is going there?

We are learning about who is at our school and what they do. This week we have been drawing pictures of all the staff. Some of us had to sneak into their classes and take a peek at their eye or hair colour. We had lots of fun.

This week we had some of our first stickers for reading for 25 nights. This is very exciting. Who will be the next to get to 50 nights?!

Next week we are looking forward to the RAPunzel show on thursday. We are also looking forward to working really hard for Miss Green!

REMINDERS!

Just a reminder that the Rapunzel performance needs to be paid by tomorrow (13 March). $4 to the office.

We also need to bring some chocolate for the gala on friday (14 March).

Autumn is here!

Today we went for our Wednesday walk to Harling Park with rooms 6 and 7. We had a tidy up of all the cardboard because everyone has been leaving it all over the hillside. We found some of the deciduous trees are starting to loose their leaves, look at the fun we had with them!

Chopping chocolate in half

We made our own chocolate bars to chop in half. We had to make sure we shared it fairly.

Fractions - Halves and Quarters

This week we are starting to learn about fractions. We will start by learning what half and quarter of a shape is. Next week we will learn about half and a quarter of sets. You can start practicing at home.

Is this the last swimming???

Today we shared our swim with room 7, we hope we have a hot weekend so it heats the pool up so we can swim for longer!

Blogger of the week, WEEK 5

Tena Koutou family and friends of Room 8!

On Wednesday it was Jess's birthday. She turned 6. She was very excited and was very lucky because she got lots of presents. We all sung happy birthday to her. Jess went to Bamboo Garden for dinner and they sang to her too!

The weather has turned cold! We had to miss our swimming time on Monday and we are hoping that it will be warmer today so we can jump in the pool. Miss Green learned how to work the heat pump and she kept us all warm! We are the only class in the school to have a heat pump so everyone else was freezing while we were all snuggly and warm.

Last Friday we went with Mrs Lyons to learn about compost in out edible garden. We are excited to get in there again today. I wonder what exciting things we will do in there today?

On Wednesday we went for a walk to Harling Park with Mrs Zydenbos and room 7. Tyrell was late so he had to run and catch up with us. It was also a rainy day, but we were lucky because it stopped when we were walking. We got to collect seeds and birds nests. We are going to make some art work with the seeds.

We have been collecting so many donations for the gala that we are on the top of the leader board! We are hoping that we are going to win! So we are going to keep the donations coming in.

We are looking forward to having a weekend off! We all have exciting things to do and Tyrell is going to sleep for the whole weekend!

Counting in 2s
